SPRAYPAINT FOR CARS: HOW TO PAINT A CAR WITH SPRAY PAINT AND MTN PRO MOTORING

As we already know, spray paint and the world of motoring are two areas that have been linked since the spray paint was first invented. CAN A CAR BE PAINTED WITH AN AEROSOL?

At first, painting a car professionally can appear to be task that’s only possible with the help of robots at the industrial facilities of large companies. However, that’s not the case: you too can spray paint your car. You just have to know exactly what you want to paint and how you are going to do it.

HOW CAN YOU PAINT A CAR WITH SPRAY PAINT?

To start painting a car, you have to identify the parts that you want to paint, so you can choose the specific products you will need. 

The body is the most visible and largest part of the vehicle. As the surface is smooth, you can use practically any type of paint. However, as you can see, metallic paint provides the finish that you are used to seeing on vehicles. The MTN PRO Metallic Paint is perfect for this job, which comes in nine different colors.

After covering the parts that you don’t want to paint, we recommend sanding the surface to increase its porosity. Once the surface is prepared, apply the MTN PRO Primer for plastics. Shake it for at least one minute after you hear the noise of the mixing ball.

Hold the can in a vertical position, applying fast and fine strokes, from a distance of about 20 cm. Allow around 5 minutes for it to dry between layers.

Apply the MTN PRO Metallic Paint spray following exactly the same steps. To get a metallic effect you’ll need to apply at least two layers of paint. The paint will be touch dry in about 10 minutes, but it will need two hours to be totally dry.

SPECIFIC PAINT FOR BUMPERS

On four wheeled vehicles, the bumpers have a completely different finish than the bodywork. If you want to touch up this part of your vehicle, you can use MTN PRO Textured Bumper, a spray paint with a textured finish especially suitable for painting bumpers and the reverse of wing mirrors. 

The procedure is the same as the one described above, that is normal for most spray paints or varnishes. However, the coverage and opacity of this product allows you to achieve a perfect finish with only one or two coats. You can remove any protective tape and plastic 20 minutes after its application.

HOW MANY CANS DO I NEED TO PAINT MY CAR? 

The answer to this question depends on what you mean by painting a car.

If you want to paint the bodywork using MTN PRO Metallic Paint sprays, six cans will be enough. 

If you also want to paint of the bumpers with MTN PRO Bumper texture, one can will be more than enough. 

If you’re thinking of repainting other parts of the car with different characteristics, such as the rims, brake calipers or the exhaust pipe, you’ll also need to buy specific aerosols such as  MTN PRO Aluminium Rims, MTN PRO Paint for calipers or MTN PRO Heat-Resistant paint: each with its own individual procedure, which generally follows very similar guidelines.
