Fine Arts materials in aerosol
Useful solutions in the field of artistic painting with the MTN PRO range.
It goes without saying that all our spray paint ranges can be very useful for all kind of work and projects related to the fine arts. But apart from these, within the MTN PRO line we also find a selection of non-paint products that are specifically designed to cover a series of existing needs in the artistic painting process. Both preparation and finish are crucial parts of the painting process, which guarantee optimal and lasting results. For this reason, at Montana Colors we have designed spray varnishes that are ideal for protecting oil paintings and fixative spray for charcoal or pencil drawings, as well as paint primers such as gesso, used to achieve a perfect canvas texture.
Features of spray varnishes and paint primers
Unlike painting on walls, when we create paintings in the studio, it is equally important to prepare the surface to be painted as it is to protect the final product. It is precisely for these tasks that the aerosol format offers advantages over traditional methods. Again, the ease of use and storage adds to the fact that no additional tools are needed to apply the products. So, the primers and spray varnishes from the MTN PRO range by Montana Colors are the most practical and effective tools thanks to this aerosol-powered system.
The products in this MTN PRO range that is focused on fine arts have functionalities that can be divided into two basic categories: on the one hand, we have varnishes and fixatives, products created to protect and preserve the condition of the works, and/or to add an aesthetic finish that the artist wishes to add. On the other hand, we have gesso paint primer, a type of product whose task is to prepare the surface to be painted, creating a base that maximizes the performance of the paint and the strength of the colors on the canvas.
Pencil or charcoal fixative spray and varnishes for paintings
When it comes to fixatives specifically designed for fine art, we’ve developed two different models within the MTN PRO line, each specially adapted to the varying needs of different mediums and surfaces.
On the one hand, we have the MTN PRO Matte Fixative, a transparent lacquer spray paint with a matte finish that, as its name suggests, is used to varnish and fix pastel, charcoal or watercolor drawings made on paper.
On the other hand, we have the Canvas Varnish spray, available in three finishes: glossy, satin and matte. It is a transparent varnish for acrylic paint and oil paint to protect both of them against external factors that may damage them, such as humidity, dust, grease, or pollution.
Gesso Paint Primer
For the moment, we just have a single product in this category, the MTN PRO Gesso Primer. This aerosol contains the same substance that canvases are prepared with: gesso, a white liquid that serves to close the pores of the fabric. This property prevents the color from being absorbed by the canvas threads, while simultaneously preventing the appearance of possible transparencies that are a result of the fabric lacking density. The Gesso Primer from the MTN PRO range is both useful and easy-to-use, especially for smaller formats. Find out how to use gesso paint in one of our tutorials!
